In this premiere episode, join Drew Niermann as he briefly summarizes his experience in the Salesforce ecosystem and how his time at CapStorm has enabled him to become a consultative problem-solver for many of Salesforce’s enterprise customers. One of the greatest challenges when working with business and technical resources is helping both groups understand problems and solutions in a way that makes sense to them and portrays the tangible benefits they can receive when implementing a solution.
The goal of the Data Unleashed web series is to help Salesforce’s customers identify what they might be able to do by unleashing the unrealized potential within their data! While software as a service (SaaS) is often the standard-bearer solution, we’ve found that many business leaders are choosing the self-hosted route as it allows them to maintain complete data autonomy.
By coupling SaaS and self-hosted (on-prem or cloud) solutions, businesses can maintain fine-grain control over their data while maximizing the capabilities of Salesforce data and metadata workloads.

Hey there, my name is Drew Niermann. And this is Data Unleashed, the video blog series dedicated to helping you get more out of your investment in Salesforce.
I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself before we get started with the meat of the content today. As I said, my name is Drew, I look after the go-to-market at CapStorm. I’ve been in the Salesforce ecosystem for about five years, and live in Florida, with my wife and four kids.
I spend most of my working hours helping business stakeholders understand difficult Salesforce problems, consulting with them, suggesting solutions, and then explaining the outcomes to them in terms that they would use in everyday life, so it’s really just a technical idea to business stakeholder translation.
Now, what we hope that you get from the Data Unleashed video blog series is a fresh perspective on what you could potentially be doing with your Salesforce data that you may not be doing today. And the goal of that, obviously, is to get more value out of your investment in Salesforce.
So at Data Unleashed, we think this is really important. And here’s why we believe it matters. When you live and breathe in the Salesforce ecosystem, there’s this unconscious bias that many of us have, including myself; we just don’t realize it. And it’s the idea that in order to be modern with our business and digitally transform our enterprise, we must exclusively use SaaS applications and products.
But we know that that’s not necessarily true. At CapStorm, we speak with C-suite technology executives from around the world in global 500 organizations every single day. And the recurring theme that we’re hearing from them each day is that for their most mission-critical, highly regulated, sensitive data elements – they plan to keep those data workloads on-prem or in their own self-hosted cloud infrastructure because they have autonomous control over the data at all times.
If this interests you, I hope you consider tuning into our next episode of Data Unleashed because this is the kind of stuff that we’re going to talk about each day. Again, my name is Drew Niermann. And thank you so much for watching Data Unleashed.
