Can you tell us a little about your background?
I have always loved teaching people. When I was 14, I started helping teach the children’s class at our church, and since then, I’ve taught high-school clubs, teen classes, adult classes, and tutored computer science students. To go along with that, throughout college, I was a substitute teacher. I got my computer science degree from the University of West Florida after graduating in 2022. After that, I interned as a software analyst for a fuel data company. I decided I wanted something where I could work with people, teach some, and still use my degree which led me to my position CapStorm!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you pick?
Either Alaska or Norway. Basically, anywhere cold and with lots of mountains.
Do you have any pets?
If I weren’t allergic, I would have a Great Dane. Or Five.
If you were trapped on a deserted island, what three items would you want to bring with you?
A solar power generator, a satellite internet dish, and a laptop. I’d email someone my coordinates and be off of the island within a week.
If you could be any real person from any time period, who would it be and why?
I would be me from right now. I love my life, and I’m grateful for everyone and everything in my life. I don’t think I’d want to switch places with anyone.
How did you get started in your industry?
My dad has worked in tech companies my entire life, which made me lean more toward that path. I was enrolled in college for business but he told me that if I didn’t like it, I’d probably like computer science. Well, I went to orientation, and about three minutes in, I decided it wasn’t for me. I ended up switching my degree to computer science that afternoon.
What’s been your most interesting job so far?
Besides CapStorm, I would say substitute teaching. I never knew what I was getting myself into, I could just be hitting ‘play’ on the DVD player that day or I could be having to come up with a week and a half of material to teach without instructions (true story).
What drew you to CapStorm?
I was looking for jobs when I randomly got a call from a recruiter saying they wanted me to interview with a company I was not familiar with. I started looking through their website just to see what they did, and I was really impressed. I had never worked with Salesforce, but when reading about what CapStorm does, I was all-in on their vision. I could see a need, and I wanted to help with the solution. I interviewed with a few different people, and they were the nicest, most genuine people. I fell in love with the company, and I’m ecstatic to be working here.
What advice would you provide to someone interested in your field?
Like learning most things the first time, it’ll be tough for a little bit, but once you have that ‘Aha!’ moment, everything else comes much easier. Just keep on keepin’ on.
What three words would you use to describe CapStorm?
- Genuine: Everyone you meet here isn’t just putting on a happy face to look nice, that’s just who they are.
- Customer-Oriented: CapStorm is always thinking about customers and how we can make their lives easier.
- Well-Balanced: Everyone at CapStorm has their strengths, and those strengths don’t get put on the back burner. We are all put in positions that maximize our strengths which makes CapStorm efficient and smooth.
I’m aware that’s technically five words, but I’m making it count.
